Yesterday I was asked what I believe was a sincerely honest question by someone who has in the past criticized virtually anything that I’ve written. Some of this individual’s comments are typically associated with the politically ideology of the American extreme right. He has even criticized moderates and the reasonable within his own party. I didn’t mind the name calling so much, because it allowed me to gauge where his mind resides. Often there’s little need to get upset when your opposition gives you a piece of their mind, you just have to know what to do with the piece they give you.

Anyway, he asked me a valid question for once that wasn’t on the fringe of insanity. “Why do I continue to talk to me when you know we disagree on everything?

Well that’s an excellent question.

Here is my answer.

I believe that people can change; even someone who I believe has some serious social and cultural copping dilemmas such as yourself.

What if Jesus responded in hate to those who misunderstood, criticized and disagreed with him? What would this world be like if we all failed to consider others? It would have been destroyed a long time ago.

What you may not understand is that I don’t have to like you, but I’m commanded to love you. And I shouldn’t do it halfheartedly either, but with sincerity. If I am to be true then I must sincerely seek the truth. Loving someone who doesn’t love themselves is difficult, but necessary if I desire to make this world a better place. Many people are too consumed with themselves to consider others.

What is ruining the world is the continual allowance and acceptance of hate. The only undefeatable solution is to love. I’m fine with those who may disagree with me, laugh at me or even call me names, but I am confident that love is the correct response to what has ruin many of our relationships. If we just can be still and listen to what life has to say, then we will know how to respond and begin to change what is ruining this world.

So I end with a message I’ve repeated so many times, Consider Others.

Too often we talk about how big our problems are and not how big God is to our problems. We’re quick to affirm the voice of defeat, instead of the voice of victory. If the power of life and death is in the tongue, then what is it that you’re saying?

We speak our own defeat into existence. Whether we realize it or not, when you do this you act as a proxy for evil and the devil’s advocate. Listen to what you’re saying. Listen to yourself. I say this not in judgment of anyone, but as a word of encouragement. I too get have said things that I shouldn’t have said, but this is why I have continually emphasis the message of considering others, tolerance, acceptance and respect for one another. It is difficult to have respect for those who shows themselves unrespectable, but you have to consider them too.

Many have heard the term, “the devil is in the details”, when asked to explain something that appears to be complicated or misunderstood. If the devil is in the details, then isn’t that an indicator that the plan is tainted?

Is the devil in your details? Is what you’re saying self-defeating? How often have you demonstrated your consideration for others with disrespectful words? Are you walking by faith or just by sight? If you really claim to be a Christian, you got to be honest enough to ask yourself these questions.

Are you the Devil’s advocate?

I believe if you’re really honest with yourself some will realize that you are or were. Consider Others.

What have you done for others?

This question remind me of the parable “The Good Samaritan“. Which is essentially the essence message of what I’ve been writing for more than two years now on my blog; Consider Others.

You have not yet begun to live until you can rise above the narrow confines of your own concerns to the broader concerns of society.” – MLK

As many of us go about our daily lives we begin to get complacent. We watch people who are in need and/or are hurting on the side of the road of life as we cross to the other side. What is appalling is that some of these people are Christians, I mean priests and Levites.

So often we seek sanctuary within the four walls of the church instead of taking that sanctuary beyond the four walls of the church. What will happen to The Church if The Church is not concern about the people in and out of it?

You may say that “I have to get my own house in order, before I can help anyone else.” That may be true, but if that’s your response to society then you have accepted the foreclosed mentality of the priest and Levite who left the man on the side of the road. It’s not me. I have things to do, places to be, business to take care of. I don’t have time to be concerned about someone else. Let someone else help them.

What if everyone took that same attitude? That person on the side of the road of life would be left for dead waiting for you to rescue them.

What if that was you? Who’s willing to take a risk for humanity? Who’s willing to show their concern for others? Who is my neighbor?

One of the most scariest images is an ideologically confused, unsocialized person with a gun in one hand and the Bible and Constitution in the other. What is more scary are the people who enables them.

For weeks I’ve been writing about race, rage, religion and the right. Some has attributed all of this to one bloggers obsession with race and republicans. And your assumption would be wrong. Many people who are silent on these issues are so because they either sees the truth in what has been illustrated and/or they’re simply uncomfortable speaking with authority about any of these subjects.

As I’ve illustrated last week is that it’s not always about race, it’s not always republicans, but it is about race and the role republicans are playing in the rage against this President. Many choose not to accept the reality of that truth, but what other logical conclusion can you draw if it isn’t about race? Politics is just the proxy, not the problem.

I give up on the realistic relevance of the Republican Party these days. It doesn’t want anyone who will question its authority. It doesn’t want anyone who will demand discussion. It doesn’t want anyone who is progressive, moderate, Black, Latino, Muslim, Young or even female. If you’re White, Male and Southern you’re welcomed. As a southerner I know that’s not a fair assessment, but many polls are trending in that direction when it comes to the GOP. It’s trending higher to those groups. The Democratic Party is not infallible, but at least I’m welcomed.

The fringes of society, whether it is the Birthers, the Deathers, the outrageous 2nd Amendment folks and the Racists they are not ruining the GOP, they have ruined the GOP. Who’s talking about bringing guns, Hitler, Nazis and the socialists. It’s not all Republicans, but it is a Republican problem and an American issue.

I’m surprised about the silence of those Republicans who has previous criticized me on various issues. What is worse is the timid tendencies of Democrats confronting them. It’s not all Republicans, it’s not all Democrats, but when will we finally have a Conservative who will talk down the paranoia of Republicans to Republicans? When will we finally have Democrats speak critically towards the timidness of the Democrats to Democrats?

I have restrained myself from saying this for many months, but I simply give up any possibility of having a reasonable conversation with most Republicans on many of these issues. I will continue to push Democrats to speak up, but their time is coming too if they don’t start doing what needs to be done.

Comment, criticize if you please. I give up. Let the M.F. Burn. (Reference to a previous post)

If what happened in November of 1963, February of 1965 or April of 1968 happens in today I will be sad, but I would feel sorry for those who helped caused it, because the blood would be on their hands. The outrage of the right could not match the rage that would come from the left and in the unexpected corners of society. I don’t want any of this to happen and urge people to do something more than nod in agreement or disagreement, do something before something happens. Before it’s too late.

It was he who said that “the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives and the dream shall never die.” So it remains true that I must say something in remembrance of Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) in this time of mourning for his family, friends, constituents and those who have been inspired by him throughout his long public career.

Born in 1932 to one of the most wealthiest and influential families in America, Sen. Ted Kennedy spoke for “the least of these” and a true advocate for the poor and downtrodden.

Just as Strom Thurmond and Ronald Reagan are revered among republicans for their adherence to conservative values, so is Ted Kennedy for his observance to liberal principles while often crossing the partisan and ideological divide to help enact important legislation across a broad spectrum of social policy. Although he was a leading spokesman for liberal issues and a favorite target of conservative fund-raising appeals and paper political patriots, he had the ability to find Republican allies to get bills passed; a miracle all of its own.

Sen. Kennedy leaves a strong and positive legacy on legislation concerning civil rights, health care, education, voting rights and labor. More than just a senator from Massachusetts, he was a presence of his own. Through the triumphs and tragedies that have found its way to Ted Kennedy few will be able to say with honesty that Sen. Kennedy wasn’t a true “lion”.

So as we will hear some Republicans and Conservatives continue their attacks on Sen. Kennedy during this time I ask that you not participate. It is these who will be left behind. “We know the future will outlast all of us, but I believe all of us will live on the future we make.” – Ted Kennedy

As Democrats now have more reason to pass legitimate reform for healthcare as Sen. Kennedy would have it, I admire Sen. Kennedy for going out like a lion.

Thank you and may you rest in peace Sen. Ted Kennedy.

I’ve been writing about the sum of when you add guns, ignorance, intolerance, paranoia and hate to any political discussion for awhile on this blog. Periodically for almost a year, but more frequently within the past few weeks the topic of discussion has been illustrations of hate, fear, paranoia and the unspoken element of violence.

We should not forget the historical and political parallels that have been kindled in the American political discussions today.

We can learn from history how past generations thought and acted, how they responded to the demands of their time and how they solved their problems. We can learn by analogy, not by example, for our circumstances will always be different than theirs were. The main thing history can teach us is that human actions have consequences and that certain choices, once made, cannot be undone. They foreclose the possibility of making other choices and thus they determine future events.” -  Gerda Lerner
Perhaps some will heed the warnings of where the bloody political trail we find ourselves on tends to leads.

Our own national history serves as a reminder of the results of the things we find so many subscribing to in political debates today. The tragedies we’ve experienced is the flag that flies higher to those who proclaim patriotism as their political proxy, because it is the unforgettable reminder of what unchecked hatred, distorted information and fear can lead to.

Where does the bloody trail lead?
I look forward to the day when We the People can fulfill the prophecy of the rest of the sentence, because we have yet obtained the constitution to unite the state of America.

If “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America” then there should be no thought of such a distinct separateness of the classes, cultures, races, religion, sexuality and even political ideology.

When the tree of liberty becomes stale by the distortion of corporate tyrants, political cooperatives and ideologues then it’s time to cut down that tree or get rid of the infected branches that is killing it.

The problem is not the so-called American dream; a dream where one can realize the essence of equality, opportunity and freedom for all. The problem is the people have become too afraid to dare dream it. We’re too concerned with what someone else will say or think.

The dream has become a nightmare for so many who are not privileged or have been judged by the color of their skin, sexual, religious or political preferences and educational or economic status. The problem is not the American dream or those who continue to dream it, but those who have worked diligently to make it damn near impossible to realize.

Politics of Fear

The use of intimidation as a political tactic is nothing new. More often it is some group who proclaims a right or liberty is being threatened and feel they must defend it. Although this very well may be a political proxy lets pretend that’s the real reason why ‘certain people’ appear to be more prone to such ideology and practice. I believe it’s more of a sign of political weakness and instability with the individual or group than it is with government.

Politicians in both major political parties are too busy playing politics instead of We the People.

Republicans using fear and hate to drum up support. There too busy trying to make White people afraid of the Black guy in the White House, the Latina Woman in the Court House, the Immigrant who has worked hard to afford the overpriced house in your neighborhood and keeping the gay couple out of the Lord’s house. While making you believe they’re for you while they’re sleeping with the banker’s wife who’s about to foreclose on your house. The Republican Party is not what it use to be and is basically a Conservative Citizens Council. (You need to look up what the Conservative Citizens Council is or just read my previous post.)

Democrats are not fairing to be much different these days. Don’t get too comfortable with your majority. Especially when you are slow to show your back bone. Stop being so lilly livered and seeking the approval of those who will never approve of anything you dare to do. You are there for a reason. It’s best for you to get to work or get replaced by the ones who’s working against you. Stop concerning yourself with what the Republicans are doing, saying or thinking. The best thing that you or they can do is do what you were elected to do and stop worrying about the next election.

Do what you’re suppose to do and don’t worry about what anyone else is doing. This is as elementary as the story of the Ant and the Grasshopper. Why can’t politicians just do what they’re suppose to do instead of seeking to score political points and scare people half to death with the fear of Death Panels, Torture, War and rumors of war?

Where the trail may end
To all those who may read this who does not like President Obama and seek to do harm to him and/or anyone he’s closely connected to; I urge you to reconsider your ways. Do not under estimate the abilities of this President and the effectiveness of the security of those responsible to protecting him.

I also urge you to reconsider, because the alternative to all of these well capable people and organizations in place you should not under estimate a silent contingencies of people who will erupt in retaliation beyond measure and it would be unforeseen. These people are not distinctly violent, but I can see little reason why they wouldn’t react with extreme violence towards any person who ‘appears’ to be affiliated with any individual or group who commits harm to this President. The riots that followed various traumatic events during the 1960’s in the U.S. would be minimal in comparison.

I will not assume that you are very reasonable or tolerant. In fact I believe you to be uncivilized and unsocialized group of unintelligent scared people. That’s the reason why you resort to intimidation, threats and violence. It’s a proxy of the hate you bestow upon anyone you do not understand or you psychologically concluded is intellectually more talented and developed than you. It’s not always about race, but far too often race finds its place. Your misplaced, misguided and well uninformed anger and revealing cultural, political, intellectual and civil unawareness will ultimately undermined you. Reconsider your ways, before it’s too late. You never know where the bloody trail may lead.

How many among us have the courage to speak truth to power?

Regardless of your race, religion or political affiliation when confronted with the issues of hate, even from your own community, will you honestly have the courage to speak truth to their perceived power?

The law makers and law enforcers of my hometown (Nashville, TN) are discovering areas where they need to focus on doing.

Personally, I have absolutely nothing against Nashville Sheriff Daron Hall. I actually believe this was a mistake. I believe he’s doing a good job properly and fairly enforcing the law with concern for the safety of the public and the persons who may or have endangered the public.

Now I make this statement, because it’s rare to hear a Black man speak highly of  law enforcement agencies. It has been my experience on various encounters over the years both where I was at fault (speeding) or just an innocent bystander that Nashville & Davidson County law enforcement and public officials have been nothing but courteous and professional. I know there has been instances where that may not be true for all who may read this who has had contact with the same law enforcement agencies and I respect your opinion and experiences. In this case I can only speak for myself. I have been racially profiled, but it has never been by Nashville Police or Davidson County Sheriffs, but the smaller agencies and more affluent communities with their own law enforcement agencies that I’ve had difficulties with. Even then I gave them respect first and they realized their mistake, but who am I to harp on Considering Others.  :D

So with that said, I will continue.

November 22, 2008 Sheriff Daron Hall was a speaker at the Middle Tennessee Chapter of the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC) at the Buffet Restaurant. This is an organization that describes blacks as being genetically inferior, opposes interracial marriages and all non-white immigration to name a few. Now that sounds like the protocol of another three lettered organization.

The Sheriff topic was the undocumented immigrant round-up of over 4000 illegal aliens. Now before any conservative citizen who chooses to shut down any measure of reasonable consideration of a constructive conversation allow me to say I commend the sheriff’s department for trying to reduce crime in Davidson County. As they clearly know, crime and in particularly illegal immigrants can be found in more areas than certain clusters of Hispanic communities. I’m sure if we checked out West Nashville, Bellvue and even a portion of Brentwood we can find some undocumented individuals who are not Hispanic or African, but look just like the White people who were at this particular meeting. So if we’re going to profile people, let’s be fair about it.

In a written statement to the Metro Council, Sheriff Hall said that he had no idea of the views of the organization. I was speaking about the department’s immigration program. Now I actually believe him, he has shown no history or racial animosity, but it raises another question, concern and need that all governments should be made aware of. On issues that involves race, religion, sexuality or culture with politics; you need someone to first brief you on the nature or ideology of the particular group. Almost like a cultural adviser. This could have been easily avoided.

Although I have my own opinions about the CCC, I don’t blame them for this incident. They’re not hiding under any sheets, because their website clearly states they are opposed to “all efforts to mix the races of mankind”. They even have merchandise for sell such as t-shirts that reads “White Pride Worldwide” in addition to links to a couple of hate organization.

What is interesting was the link to the Republican National Committee and CPAC. Why would they want to be associated with the Republican Party and not the Democratic Party? Given their admitted views, compared to what I’ve been told about how inclusive the GOP is given that they are the first political party in the U.S. to elect a Black man as chairman of the party, why would the CCC still associate with the GOP? :D

Side Note: I ask my Republican and Conservative friends to take a quick read at the Wiki on this group, specifically the issues & activities sections. If you voted for Ron Paul or Mike Huckabee you should check this out, but more importantly ask the difficult questions of yourself in addition to them. Even if you’re a Democrat, you should check this out, especially if you voted for Dick Gephardt in 2000. Don’t be afraid to ask the question, but be willing to accept the reality of the answer.

Now I know this title probably shocked and surprised a few people who know me, but I ask you to just follow me on this one before casting judgment too quickly. You may decide to join the N.R.A. (National Rifle Association) too when I’m done.

I want to begin by saying that I actually do not oppose the N.R.A., nor do I oppose the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. This is not a slight towards any individual, organization or interest group. I’m honestly directing my own words of “Consider Others” and applying it to a question that has been posed on several occasions by gun advocates.

I recently listened to an interesting and bias conversation a few weeks ago on a local AM talk radio program about the people both for and against a new gun bill in my state. Understand that this is a program that is primarily marketed to the Black Christian community. I rarely listen to the station at the time this program comes on and only listen to a single 30 minute broadcast on occasion. So I’m not a regular listener.

What sparked my attention were the comments of one gentleman who began to rail against gun owners and stereotyping them as being, (I jotted this down, because I didn’t want to forget what he said.) “A bunch of White Redneck Racist Republicans looking to shoot a Black any chance they get”.

Now the discussion was about a gun proposal and race and politics got introduced to the conversation. So before I start talking back to the radio (like anyone can hear me) I wanted to hear how the host would respond to this guy, but he didn’t say anything. So the caller continued. I was thinking it was going to get worse, but I began to understand where he was coming from and why he introduced race and politics into the discussion.

I admit that this guy’s comments were borderline racist and unfair to stereotype gun owners as being White Racist Republicans. All Republicans are not racist, despite the increasing examples we see each day on TV. All White people are not racist as I’ve illustrated on multiple occasions on this very blog. So it is unfair to categorize all gun owners in this way, even if there’s a possibility of truth within the statement; rephrase it.

He made mention of the instances of the man who was allowed to attend an event where President Obama was in attendance. Although I was suspicious of this guy and pointed out the bias, I agree it’s his 2nd Amendment right. The caller also mentioned the guy who was arrested at another even if not the same one the previous guy was at where he was arrested by the Secret Service. Now these were two recent incidents, but I know there has been several more that I’ve mentioned. In interest of time I will not go into all of them, but get to why I think people should join the N.R.A.

So let’s explore this for a moment. Although I disagree with the tone and some of the language used I get the caller’s point. This is my solution to his frustration and a win/win for everyone. Join the N.R.A.

Now some of you are thinking that I’ve lost it. Isn’t that counterproductive?

It may appear that way, but what better way to get what you want than with a gun. Follow me for a minute.

The argument we continue to hear from Gun Owners and N.R.A. members is that it’s there 2nd Amendment right to bare firearms. That’s true, no argument there. The argument we continue to hear from people who oppose Guns and the N.R.A. for various reasons is that guns kill people and have countless of proof to back up their claims. The counter is ‘guns don’t kill people, people kill people’. In a way that’s true, but they do it with guns.

So who’s right? But more importantly, what’s the solution to this dilemma?

I say let’s join the N.R.A.

What better way to better way to make your point, but with a gun. Yes, this is a dangerous solution I admit, but the fairest one I see.

Why can’t I have a gun ‘legally’ and be a card carrying member of the N.R.A.? It’s not about race or politics, but the 2nd Amendment right?

So let me carry a gun ‘legally’ to a gathering of Republicans. I should be welcomed without suspicion, because as an American it’s my right to bare arms. Just because I’m Black and a Democrat shouldn’t matter.

In addition, I plan on inviting my friends who are Black, Hispanic and Muslim to come join the N.R.A. with me. This should be fun. We all have clean records, so there shouldn’t be an issue. We can attend Gun Shows and N.R.A. sponsored events too. We can even go to the church down the street, which happens to be a Southern Baptist church the Sunday after we are members. Well our Muslim friend may not be in attendance, but everyone else would. I think that’s the solution. It’s our 2nd Amendment right.

By-the-way, why hasn’t the N.R.A. been more proactive in their diversity in member recruiting efforts?

I would love to be in a N.R.A. commercial saying, “Hello, I’m Tim and I’m a member of the N.R.A.” and have it aired on FOX News or Lou Dobbs. Even better they can have a Gay couple do a commercial and air it during a NASCAR race, “Hey, I’m Bruce and I’m Steve and we joined the N.R.A.”; Primetime Baby. Then have a young Latino male do a commercial in Spanish with English subtitles below and have it aired during Glenn Beck, he’s losing sponsors now. Then have one of my Muslim female friends to do another commercial in full traditional attire and have that played as a radio ad during Rush Limbaugh’s show or Sean Hannity. It’s the N.R.A. they wouldn’t think twice about that. I’m sure they will be the first to say that it’s not about race or even political affiliation. It’s the N.R.A. for God’s sake, run it.

Perhaps then we will be able to have an honest discussion about guns in this country void of race and politics, because the playing field will finally be even or will we see a sort of a gentrification of the N.R.A.?

You have to admit, that’s a good idea. Fair and Balance.

In efforts to be inclusive I am referring to The Church as the place in your life that is your sanctuary. You may look at this in the tradition context of a religious organization or destination or you may look at this as a more personal or intimate destination in your life.

Regardless whether you believe in God or not, regardless if you’re a Christian, Jew, Muslim, Hindu or whatever; the intent of the message is difficult to disparage. Many of the people within The Church of today may say these things, but don’t practice any of the things mentioned in this video. Now is not the time to discuss all of them, but I would like to ask a simple question of you.

My church is _________.

  • an inviting place
  • a safe place
  • a place of forgiveness
  • a merciful place
  • accepting of who I am
  • relatable to me
  • one of the most creative and inspiring place I go
  • a place where I can use my talents and help others
  • a place of healing
  • that extra support that is sometimes hard to ask for
  • loving
  • accepting
  • hope

Can you truthfully say any of these things with sustainable evidence to verify your claims about Your Church?

I’m sure some will offer the typical ‘church response’ and say that their church is all of these things and a bag of chips, but the test of it’s truth should be found within you when I visit ‘your church’, because the church is you.

I submit this one for those interested in the truth and facts. The Birthers and the Deathers may quietly exit at the door on your far right. Thank you. :)

Finally, a truthful ad in a crowded field of Republican lead, funded and engineered lies about healthcare. I have some more years to go before I am eligible for AARP, but I thank you for the honest commercial and website that illustrates the truth to the myths.

I ask all who have heard or even believe the healthcare lies to visit the AARP – Health Action Now website if you’re interested in the facts and truth. If not, go ahead and continue following the lies. It’s just the proxy for a deeper rooted issue anyway.

Someone very recently asked me what my problem was with the Republican Party.  As I read this gentleman’s email I laughed to myself as I continued to read his assumptions of who I was. I simply replied with a thank you and stated that I appreciate his reading of what I have to say, especially on race and politics. I politely ended by informing this gentleman that he has misjudged me and my intentions and in fact have many things wrong about me and the specific group of people he believes I’m in. A group in which I would love to be considered apart of since I regard them so highly, but I do not have the academic credentials to be considered apart of such an elite group of people he mentioned in jest. But I thank you anyway.

So in efforts to demonstrate what I’ve been saying, I considered the arguments, assumptions and misinterpretations presented as if they were true and without bias and compared them to what I’ve said. I believe this is a calm and fair response. I hope someone can lend the same level of consideration to me who may have been offended by previous posts, despite the warning.

Perhaps it’s not fair to categorize the entire Republican Party as being The Party of No regardless of the evidence of their actions. Perhaps, and this is only a thought, many who affiliate themselves in some way with the GOP simply are subscribers to what I’m coining as ‘conservative gradualism’.

What is conservative gradualism?

Conservative Gradualism – is a philosophy of or tending or disposed to maintain existing views, conditions or institutions of tradition that asserts a policy of approaching a desired end in stages.

Haven’t you noticed how many of those who self-affiliate themselves with the Republican Party tend to display adverse tendencies to change?  Yes, it’s not all by no means because those who are moderate have a progressive measure to their conservatism, but are more prone to changes over longer periods of time.

Now I’m not suggesting that there’s anything wrong with being a Republican, conservative or whatever you may choose to identify yourself as politically. I’m just trying to understand the reason for the extreme levels of non-cooperation with bipartisanship demonstrated and influenced by the GOP. If it isn’t about the race of the President, if it is about the good of the American people and not politics, then I’m trying to understand the reasons for the need of a party to become so exclusive and virtually politically cultural isolationist. The only positive conclusion I’ve determined is conservative gradualism.

When we look at what the GOP has proposed as a counter argument or alternative to what the Democrats may have proposed the list can be categorized as either non-existent, no or a form of gradualism.

Think about it. What was the GOP’s alternative to the Financial Crisis and/or Economic Recovery?

What was the GOP’s alternative to the Auto Industry Crisis?

What is the GOP’s alternative to Healthcare Reform?

The answer is the same for all of these. No, Nothing or few changes here and there, all characterizations of a subscription to gradualism.

I believe it was a notable 20th Century Black southern minister who said that gradualism is an escape for do nothing-ism, which ends up in stand still-ism when asked repeatedly about integration. We may disagree philosophically, but in the distant past we have managed to maintain a level of professional courtesy towards one another.

If it is not about race, then what are the sudden delusions we’re witnessing today? What’s different with this President than any other of our previous presidents? The excuses are rooted with a level of racial resentment, guilt and hostility. Many psychologists would say that what we’re seeing can be characterized as signs of a guilt complex. Some want to resolve the issues we all have with race and politics, but we are seeing more people indulge in the activity of what you have guilt about. So the most positive conclusion I can determine is what I’ve defined as conservative gradualism.

I believe many understand and know that we need to change many things that were destroyed by our previous Republican administration. It’s not a contest, but a democracy. Let us ALL work democratically to make this democracy work for ALL of us.

To those who say they want “My Country” back. I ask you to be honest and explain the America you’re wanted to return, and then consider the history of others who also live in that same America. Is the America that was initiated where the very buildings of democracy where it was created in was built by slave labor? Is the land where a Supreme Court can enact a Separate, but Equal ruling as law which gave license to the many of the deficiencies we continue to see passed down from generation to generation to this very day? The America that gave ordinance to Jim Crow and the likes of such is not the country I want “My Country” to return to. Do you?

Despite the examples of the good America has to offer, there are many examples of the evils America has birth. This land is not exclusively yours, nor is it of a specific racial group, unless you want to talk to our Native American friends. So if it’s not about race, then what is it then?

Now you must forgive the academic eloquence of this Black liberal as you called me, but sarcasm aside, I appreciate the compliment. I will always accept any criticism that refers to me as speaking with academic eloquence. I know your intent wasn’t to compliment, but thanks anyway for the unintentional compliment.

One can only go back days to discover an illustration of hate towards President Obama. The sad commentary that it’s just days and not weeks or moths or years. Although we can gather weeks, months and years of accounts where you have seen public demonstrations where politics, patriotism and/or policy is the proxy for what ultimately is hate. I know someone stands to counter my point so allow me to present examples.

One of the most creative and craftiest proxies of hate has been that female pit-bull, Sarah Palin. We saw the nastiness turn up after Sarah Palin joined the campaign.

Before I continue, lets define a terrorist and I’ll let you make the connection. Terrorist – a person or member of a group who terrorizes or frightens others. Hmmm… I wonder how many Black people were in attendance. I guess its guilt by association.

In Hagerstown, MD, a man (I’m not saying his race or party affiliation), but a 51 year old man was detained by the Secret Service at a town hall meeting. He was holding a sign that read “Death to Obama”. Now I’m sure the President is use to this by now, but what makes me mad and I’m sure the quiet rage is building from a large and I suspect darker segment of the population was the other part of the sign. It read, “Death to Michelle and her two stupid kids”.

Now this is where I start cursing.

WHAT IN THE HELL do they have to do with any of this! TELL ME! And it’s not about race.

Listen. I’m warning you that the blood is going to be on the hands of the Republican Party and all who have participated and sat in silence at their antics if something happens to anyone in the Obama family. Don’t believe me if you wish, but you can’t tell me racism is not the problem. All White people are not racist. All White people are not Republican, but I’m afraid if something does happen to anyone in the Obama family that the people who will avenge their death are not going to take the time to consider others. They are going to Kill anyone who “Fits the Description” of a Republican.

So what is the typical description of a Republican?

I’ll ask the question a different way. Can you tell me what you see in common in the videos and pictures referenced above?

I don’t want to see a national riot, but when you have Dick Army, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck stoking the embers of hate, the results may not be a bigger fire, but you getting burned.

REPUBLICANS, YOU BETTER WATCH WHAT YOU’RE DOING. You may think you have protestors on your side and it’s a political game, but many of these people are upset to see someone else achieve what they thought was meant for them. The American Dream is that is obtainable by anyone. Some of her people believe that it is only a dream for only them and not me.

Republicans you are forgetting all of the people who support the President. The coalition of supporters were not just Black, but young White people, Latinos, Gay, Educated, Poor and even some moderate conservatives. You better check yourself, before you wreck yourself.

Who among us is honest enough to speak the truth?

THE NIGGERLIZATION OF AN AMERICAN POLITICAL PARTY

Well the use of such strong language is multifaceted. You have to understand what being a nigger really means and not what it has been passed off to represent. The term nigger is one of the most offensive words in the English language. Its degree of offensiveness has increased remarkably in recent years, although it has been used in a derogatory manner since the Revolutionary War. It is the sole representation of a deep disparaging and often used deliberately by those whose intentions are to offend. However, my use of it is to emphasis the essence of what it is and how it is being used in American politics today.

Although the word nigger has been used regarding and I would like to suggest misused among African-Americans in a derogatory, offensive or a term of familiarity it is not descriptive of Blackness or being of African decent. Regardless of the misconceptions that are promoted I can bet when you saw the word you immediately thought about someone Black.  I’m not going to ask you to be honest, just a question or test to show the extent of a lie, misconception and malicious behavior can go if unchecked.

The word nigger is a noun that is used in reference towards a person of any race or origin regarded as contemptible, inferior, and ignorant or victim of prejudice similar to that suffered by blacks; a person who is economically, politically, or socially disenfranchised.

There’s no need for me to get upset when and if someone calls me a Nigger, and many have. I don’t get upset because it’s more of an offense to the actions of that person’s intentions than it is to me. I know who and what I am and don’t need the approval of you to affirm it. But isn’t that what is misunderstood by so many we see who has bought into the spoiled goods of hate?

Now to use a word that is coined by a few people is to bring emphasis to the offensiveness of the action the word suggests. The Niggerlization of American Political Party is not directed at all politicians, regardless of their race or party affiliation. There are people of all races who are truthful, sincere and avoid the trappings of politics. But we have many who have bought and sold their soul to the highest bidder. And when you think about it what have they truly gained? A temporary measurement of power, status, prestige or recognition. What is there to gain if you’ve earned it unjustly? What makes you any different than any other nigger as an uninformed family member once asked me?

You do it because you want and believe that you can make a difference. You’re willing to endure the crap that some will offer because you’re tired of seeing the good people get trampled over by those who are greedy or believe they are privileged. I’m different than any other nigger, because I’m not a nigger and don’t act as if I was one. In fact I reject the notion of what it is to be a nigger, because I’m not who seeks to offend or tear apart or act disparaging towards others in my actions, thoughts or words, but to listen, consider and embrace them.

The actions of those in politics and media today who are stoking the fear of a vastly uninformed, woefully unsocialized and easily disturbed segment of the American population are the classic characteristics of a bunch of ________.

Now what have I been saying. What is interesting is the silence of those who always seem to find objection too much of what I have to say. Not a peep. This is why I don’t take them seriously, because they’re not about anything. Just like the people who continue to believe the lies and intentional falsehoods feed to all who are willing to believe anything negative about a Democrat or a Democratic President, especially this President. They need little excuse for protest, little excuse to be stoked into frenzy about things they refuse to listen to or willing to understand. Just name calling, scare tactics, fake patriotism and baiting.

Many of these people are the ones that are quick to call someone like myself who will point out the inequality or injustice as racist, socialist and even unpatriotic. The Hell with you and your disingenuous crap. You refuse to acknowledge the evil that is dwelling within you and eager to project it off onto someone else; because you believe they will be an easy target.

Too often Democrats have been too damn weak-hearted to stand-up and speak-out against the hypocrisy of the Republican Party and that of the Democratic Party. All of the B.S. That we continue to hear can be stopped if you stand up and speak out against the lies promoted with malicious intent.

So what can one do?

Proxy for Hate

For those who continue to deny reality to choose to wonder in oblivion regarding the real threat of death and violence that often occurs when the fringes of our society are sparked with the explosiveness of race and politics fueled by lies, hate and fear. The Fear of a Black President began before Barack Obama ever became President.

For those who say it’s not about race and the delusional Peggy Noomans among us that believe we’re living in a Post-Racial society then I now invite you to join the rest of us who live outside of your gated community.

Since Saturday, February 15, 2007 to Tuesday, November 4, 2008 Barack Obama, today President Obama has been a psychological anomaly for many people. The mantra “Yes We Can” was more than a catchy political slogan, but an affirmation to many people. It was confirmation to those who are timid on the sensitive and/or taboo social issues that has plagued the consciences of our society for far too long by its subtle encouragement to those they’ve been allowed to intimidate, trample or made believe were inferior in some manner.

Yes We Can, Hope, Change are all words that frightens those who choose to hate or submit to the status quo, because it’s fueled by love; the very opposite of all they have committed to. It was a wake up call to a people who has accepted inequality an without for far too long. The calm quietness of his nature in addition to the oddness of his name and complexion of his being was not the common qualities of those who has previously ascended and appointed to the Presidency. Something was different, the unknown, the improbable and the audacity. But the audacity of hate is the hope of his opposition.

Although I supported and voted for him I’ve never thought any one person is as holy as the praise of their admirers proclaim and not as evil as the condemnation of their most devote critic projects. But the level of hate that has evolved in this country is very telling.

As I have individuals tell me that ‘it’s not always about race’ I typically smile to myself because I know that they have either failed to understand or accept what it is to be a Black in America.

Now I use the word ‘Black’ as a variable that can represents multiple groups, not just African-American. As CNN’s Soledad O’Brian has help present, being Black in America is being Latino in America as is being a Woman in America as being Muslim, Poor or Gay in America. Perhaps CNN, no a more appropriate network would be FOX News. Perhaps FOX News can do an expose called “The Niggerlization of an American Political Party”.

Oh Hold Up! Why such harsh language? What are you talking about?
