“The NAACP are a bunch of racists…”

Personally, I think Gina missed the joke, but this is what Gina had to say about the blog post “If I was McCain’s Adviser to Black Folk” and the NAACP. Perhaps she doesn’t know that the NAACP has had presidents that were White too. Anyway, here’s her comments. Feel free to express yourself.

“The NAACP are a bunch of racists, because like 90% of blacks in America, they are supporting Obama only because he is black. If McCain chose to bypass a speech to the NAACP, he’d be ridiculed as being anti-black … and when he spoke to them, they gave him a cool response. I saw where members of the audience were even reading the newspaper while he spoke … how rude.” – Comment by Gina

Thanks for your comments Gina. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I would suggest that you take the time to think about the facts in what you’re commenting on. Perhaps you missed the memo, I believe there are two or three people who are supporting Obama that are not Black.

Gina. When you make a ridiculous assumption like the one you made you should be willing to stand behind your statements. You obviously don’t know the history of the NAACP.

In addition to your comments you accuse a group of people of being unsophisticated voters. I have never voted for anyone just because of their race. That would be like you voting for McCain just because his White. Our great-grandparents voting for McCain just because he’s old. That’s like women voting for Hillary just because she’s a woman. That’s like some people who are voting against Obama, just because he’s Black.

Perhaps that the core sentiment of your comments.

I’m not voting against John McCain because of his race. I’m not voting for Obama because of his race.

Well, I want to know what others think about your comments Gina.

  1. Oh, Lord. Those are always fun comments to field…yeesh, the Internet is a skurry place. Anyway, for what it’s worth, I liked your post. Keep it pushin’.

  2. “Okay, children…let’s play nicely.”

I often say this to my own children, in an effort to help them understand fairness (and an attempt to aid them in finding the truth).

If you are interested in saying ANYTHING about NAACP, please make sure that you are using factual information, and you are telling the truth (which would be based on FACTUAL information).

Statements regarding “Socialist beginning”, or “Black leadership” should be followed by a reference. Remember footnotes, endnotes, and the almighty Appendix?!

Anyway, I implore anyone and everyone, especially those who are non-Black, to truly educate themselves on African-American history, culture, and consciousness. You may find yourself enlightened at such truths.

If I could, I’d vote my children in Office. Then, I’d give them all a “fist pound” for doing a job well done: having all the children in the U.S. ages 5 and under to speak up and be heard.

    Giggity.

  3. I FIND IT FUNNY THAT WE GET A BLACK CANDIDATE ON THE BALLOT FOR PRESIDENT AND ALL OF A SUDDEN ANYONE VOTING FOR HIM IS RACISTS.
IN THE PAST WE HAVE VOTED AND WE HAVE NOT MADE AN ISSUE OUT OF THE CANDIDATES BEING UGLY, FAT, SKINNY, TALL OR SHORT. (NOW THERES A PROBLEM)

    OUR COUNTRY IS IN TURMOIL

*WE HAVE FAMILIES THAT ARE MAKING MIN. WAGE (WHICH DOES NOT EVEN TOUCH THE LIGHT BILL PYMT.- FOR THOSE OF US THAT MAKE SO MUCH MONEY THAT WE HAVE NOT SEEN POVERTY LATELY).

*WE HAVE THOSE THAT CAN’T EVEN AFFORD GAS TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK TO EVEN MAKE A DECENT LIVING FOR THEIR FAMILIES.

*SCHOOL SYSTEMS HAVE GOTTEN TO THE POINT THAT EVERYONE IS SOOOOO EDUCATED THEY CAN NOT EVEN COME UP WITH A DECENT CURRICULUM TO TEACH OUR KIDS THE BASICS OF READING, WRITING AND ARITHMATIC SO THAT THEY CAN EVEN GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL.

    * FAMILIES ARE LOSING THEIR HOMES BECAUSE COMPANIES ARE SO DANG GREEDY AND DISHONEST.

WITH ALL OF THIS (AND I COULD GO ON WITH MORE ISSUES), OUR GOVERNMENT DECIDES THAT WE NEED TO GO OVER INTO OTHER COUNTRIES AND TELL THEM HOW THE HELL TO LIVE THEIR LIFES.

SO BEFORE WE GO CALLING SOMEONE RACIST AND DETERMINING HOW RUDE IT IS TO BE READING A NEWSPAPER WHILE THE WHITE MAN SPEAKS, LET’S THINK ON THIS….. HOW MANY MEETINGS HAVE YOU GONE TO AND NOT PAID ATTENTION? WAS IT BECAUSE OF THE SPEAKERS COLOR????????

NO MATTER WHO THE NEXT PRESIDENT IS – BLACK OR WHITE – THERE WILL STILL BE ISSUES IN THIS COUNTRY THAT THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RESOLVE………

SO WHY DON’T WE STOP AND CHECK OURSELF. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR THE PEOPLE THAT YOU COME IN CONTACT WITH ON A DAILY BASIS OR THOSE THAT ARE LESS FORTUNATE THAN YOURSELF (SINCERLY)????

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT THE PRESIDENT WILL PROBABLY NEVER REACH!! THEY DON’T EVEN HAVE ACCESS TO GET TO THE POLE TO VOTE AND I BE DARNED – DO YOU THINK THEY CARE WHAT COLOR THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS – IF HE CAN ONLY GIVE THEM THE BASIC NEEDS OF LIFE.

I CHALLENGE YOU ALL TO STOP DEALING WITH THE PETTY CRAP.
GO OUT AND VOTE AND TAKE OTHERS TO VOTE WITH YOU, BUT WHEN IT’S ALL SAID AND DONE – ASK YOURSELF WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HELP OTHERS – INSTEAD OF WAITING ON THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES TO “CHANGE THE WORLD”

    P.S.
MC CAIN HAS NO CLUE WITH THE HECK THIS COUNTRY NEEDS.
HE IS ON A POLITICAL SPILL AND THAT’S AS FAR AS IT GOES FOR HIM.
TAKE HIM TO THE HOOD TO LIVE FOR A WEEK AND THEN SEE IF HE CAN RELATE. – TELL ME THEN WHO WOULD BE RACISTS……………..

    YOURS TRULY,

    NIQUE

  4. To MiniVan,

I don’t mind helping you out this time with the research. Be sweet 🙂

According to the Biographical Dictionary of the Left, “Long tenure in office has also been characteristic of the NAACP’s presidents–all white men: Moorfield Story (1910-1915), Joel Springarn (1915-1940), Arthur Springarn (1940-1966), and Kivie Kaplan (1966-1975).”

In 1922 the NAACP started to receive grants from the Garland Fund, a big source of funding of Communist Party projects.

In 1938, the NAACP was represented at the World Youth Congress, a Communist enterprise. In the

1940s the NAACP was affiliated with American Youth for a Free World, the American affiliate of the World Federation of Democratic Youth, a Communist clearing house.

In 1946, the NAACP helped the Communist Party in one of its major political projects, the establishment of the Progressive Citizens of America—the basis for Henry Wallace’s Communist-dominated Progressive Party in the 1948 presidential election.

  5. When Jesse ran I didn’t vote for him–because I didn’t think that he would make a good president. I’m not planning to vote for Barack because he is black and I’m black. I’m choosing to vote for him because I think he is a good candidate. I don’t like what John McCain is saying–and when he previously ran, I wanted to vote for him, but he lost the primary to George W. Now McCain has changed his message so much that he sounds like four more years of what we already have.

McCain went to speak at the NAACP convention because he didn’t want to get the label that George W has received as being disinterested in the African American vote–he never accepted any invitations to speak at the convention.

What Gina seemed to have missed were the comments by the attendees who said they liked what he had to say, and said they’d be willing to listen to him more.

It’s so amazing that in the year 2008, this country finally has a African American man (who happens to be bi-racial) who actually has a chance of being elected President, and someone can make the statement than black people are only voting for him because his is black. First, that is too broad a statement–I can read and make valid decisions for myself–so I don’t fall in that category. And people seem to forget that a year ago, many African Americans (especially the old guard civil rights leaders) were saying Barack wasn’t black enough (whatever the hell that means–I’ve been told that too before). Now that he has won over a considerable number of black voters, we can’t get away from the “race” of this man. It’s a topic that won’t go away. Why? Because in this country there are still serious racial issues.

How about just viewing Barack as a presidential candidate–who happens to be black, and staying focused on his policies and things that he stands for.

(FYI in case some question my patriotism–I say the pledge, sing the Star Spangled Banner and fly my flag. And it’s because I’m an American citizen that I can enjoy the freedom of speech granted to me by the Constitution, even though when it was originally written, I wasn’t considered a part of the “created equal” group. God bless America!)
