  1. Well, now it’s up to Barack to stand by that “change” claim. I just hope he understands that “Change” is impossible when “Pragmatism” prevents progress.
You don’t “compromise” with the people who believe in what’s factually, morally wrong. You do what’s right whether they like it or not.
    That’s how you “change” things.

We will now see if Obama’s idea of “Change” is the same as the majority of those who carried him to power.

    1. Thanks for reading, I didn’t think I would have any or many visitors today.

Well hopefully everyone will not put him down for not being able to change everything. I agree with him when he says that we must work together to help bring about the change we seek. The divisiveness of our politics today is the first thing that must change and I believe it is changing for the better.

I’ve heard many people today offer me some kind and skeptic words today. I’ve told them that I wish President Barack Obama well. I know that he will make mistakes, but I hope he doesn’t make the same mistakes as our previous presidents. I will not agree with every decision, but I will support him.

  2. He need not be perfect. He just needs to be sure to recognize the top issues on his base’s agenda and implement them.
Change.org (not .gov) has the top ten issues according to us (Obama’s supporters). The primary ten issues are not impossible. They are a mandate.

There will be campaign promises he cannot achieve for a wide variety of reasons. Most of them having nothing to do with him. He still has a House and Senate chock full of Blue Dogshit Democrats that will continue to stab progress, and the President, in the back.

There is, however, no excuse for failing to implement all ten of these “Ideas for Change”. They are the cornerstone of the movement that put him where he is. He was chosen over Hillary because he was clearly the only of the two that we could even begin to trust to carry out this agenda.

After 656,991 votes for 7,847 ideas, we present the top 10 ideas for change (in no particular order):

Pass the DREAM Act – Support Higher Education for All Students

Appoint Secretary of Peace in Department of Peace and Non-Violence

    Free Single Payer Health Care

Develop & Implement a National Strategy for Sustainability

Pass Marriage Equality Rights for LGBT Couples Nationwide

Make the grid green in 10 years

Legalize the Medicinal and Recreational Use of Marijuana

Get FISA Right, repeal the PATRIOT Act, and restore our civil liberties

Save Small Business From the CPSIA

He’ll do great things. But we (the Left) will not relax, be quiet, or relent until our devotion, trust and hard work are appropriately rewarded.

  3. Tim, I totally agree on the working together to bring about the change we seek. Get FISA Right is running a new round of ads (we premiered them in DC yesterday on MSNBC, CNN, Fox, and Comedy Channel — how cool is that?) and one of the things we say to President Obama is “We’re ready to help, and look forward to working with you to restore our Constitution and the rule of law.” Really though it’s a much broader message — we also need to work with libertarians and civil-liberties-loving conservatives.

And captainkona, excellent point about change.org, and continuing the theme of working together, several of these groups already are — see Neocons’ worst nightmare: net movements intersecting in Ideas for Change in America for more.

  4. Hello, Jon.

I am all for the President working together with anyone who is willing to work for what is right.
For instance (though I’m not sure what a “civil-liberties-loving conservative” would be), if a social conservative is for Universal Single-Payer Health Care then by all means work with them. If they’re not, fuck ’em.
Health Care cannot be compromised upon. Nothing on the agenda of the vast majority of Americans can. It is morally and ethically right and any compromise aimed at appeasing corporations or Right Wing fringe is unacceptable. 100% unacceptable.
This is what I’m hoping Barack isn’t too naive to understand. If he reaches out to those who are just waiting to bite his hand off he will fail to achieve the people’s goals. They will shake his hand one second and plot his demise the next.

People who supported the downfall of our nation, NeoCons, religious extremists, sociopaths….These must not be included. They must be shut out for the good of peace, progress and prosperity.

You don’t perform surgery and include Staph Infection.

    Best regards,
