What in the hell happened to reconciliation?

It’s poisonous at how some people refuse to let things go. I understand, you disagree with something and that’s fine, but whether you’re wrong or right, at what point do you reconcile?
I guess I’m just in this practical thinking mode because I understand being upset, hurt or offended. I’ve had people who have done all of those things towards me and I still don’t know why, nor will they even accept the times I’ve tried to reconcile. I don’t even care about the offense, but what I do know is that Matthew 7:1-5 for me makes it plain enough to take the action of reconciling on their behalf.
A former pastor at the church I currently attend in Atlanta was quoted saying these words…

Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.

You may recognize this quote by Dr. Martin Luther King, but if you think about how some latch onto the simplest things and just pile on to express their hatred of what may or may not even be true makes you wonder what in the hell happen to reconciliation?
Some will say that God so loved the world…, but their words and actions prove they don’t believe that.

  1. In the world of reality TV shows and politics, reconciliation is a lost art … it’s no longer noble and seen as a sign of weakness … and that is very sad commentary.
